'If you don’t love San Francisco like those of us who love it do, there’s a simple solution; don’t live here.'
Does this girl hear herself talk? The pretentiousness of that makes me want to gag.
- rtpg 13y agoIn itself that statement just sounds like advice. But I feel like the underlying message of it is "if you don't buy into the SF culture, we have the right to exclude you." I guess it connects well to the whole "corporate culture funtimes" stuff we see in startups in the area too, but it all rings a lot like that one Las Vegas development. Why is it that people feel such a need to develop these cults?
- holyjaw 13y agoActually, it's the only line in the piece that isn't pretentious. It's a basic truth: if you're unhappy where you are, seek happiness elsewhere. It has double meaning of course; get out of my city because you're spreading unhappiness, and go find your own city where you can find happiness. I see nothing wrong with it.
