If anything, it's needed for the development of docker itself. We already build docker with docker (https://github.com/dotcloud/docker/blob/master/Dockerfile https://github.com/dotcloud/docker/blob/master/Dockerfile), but we can't yet test docker with docker because of the nesting problem.
