Joyent uses ZFS on illumos exclusively. Not Linux
- res0nat0r 13y agoZFS is now available on Linux via FUSE actually.
- dagw 13y agoHow does that compare, performance wise, to a 'real' ZFS implementation like on Solaris or FreeBSD?
- res0nat0r 13y agoHonestly I can't say. I've only done basic tinkering on Linux to see if the basic functionality works...sorry.
- roto 13y agoThe fuse one is not terribly fast, as expected. I think this is what you're really looking for: http://zfsonlinux.org/ http://zfsonlinux.org/ Basically the standard ZFS driver with a shim for the kernel.
- StavrosK 13y agoI use that and it has been amazing so far.
- insaneirish 13y agoI'm aware of Joyent's ZFS use on illumos and not Linux. What I meant is that ZFS on Linux has the chance to make ZFS become even more popular than it is already on illumos, FreeBSD, and Oracle platforms.
