This is not always the case, a coupon is not always to get a fraction discount but can be a way to redeem a voucher. Since it's a similar worklfow, websites display it a similar way, leading to this misinterpretation.
- ScottWhigham 13y agoCorrect. I'm guessing English is not your first language and thus the previous downvote(s). We use "voucher codes" this way - we don't have to educate the customer at all; they get it, which leads to a happier customer experience and less customer service headaches.
