My wife puts in around 55-60 hours per week, especially when you consider all the junk they are required to be there for (sports, extracurriculars, dances, etc.) and continuing education requirements. However, amortized over a year with summers off it turns into a 40-45 hr work week - same as other professionals but with half the salary.
