I agree with your point, but would only like to point out that there is a middle ground between "early stage startup" and "huge corporation." I work for a small company that's been around about thirteen years, is profitable, but only has about twenty employees. I wouldn't want to work for a huge corporation, but there are certainly alternatives to tiny startups and megacorps.
