- rhizome 13y agoI'm not really interested in giving law enforcement special control over my phone.
- nick2021 13y agoI'm actually kind of pissed that this is legal. I could see it coming through SMS from a short number, but it's being sent via a system I can't turn off. That's some NSA style bullshit right there..
- nick2021 13y agoUpdate: If you go to Settings > Notification Center > (Scroll to bottom) you can turn this bullshit off. I turned off Amber alerts (since they proved today that they abused it), but left the emergency one on (Incase I need to be notified of an alien invasion or something).
- glimmung 13y agoToo late.
- acchow 13y agoThey don't have special control over your phone. It's a more efficient method than sending an SMS to every phone number.
- rhizome 13y agoWho else can use the channel, besides law enforcement?
- fallinghawks 13y agoAgreed, more info would be useful. The alert named some place in San Diego, which I thought was pretty darned far for me to receive the alert. Then I went to the webpage and saw it had gone to a statewide level, and that's why I'd gotten the screech.
