"I might be wrong, but I believe by default emails are only sent if the favorites come from people you already follow. So it clogs up your "Connect" tab, but not your inbox." The thing is, I'm more interested in knowing about new people who favorite a tweet of mine than people I already follow. So I've set the notifications to 'Anyone'. Sadly, this has become largely spam, i.e. useless.
