- cryptoz 13y agoIt's a growing trend. Right now: Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II, Nexus 4, Nexus 10, Xoom, RAZR MAXX HD, Xiaomi MI-2. I hope that the Moto X being revealed today has one, and I think it's quite likely.
- freehunter 13y agoWhat I've heard as the reasoning behind it is, if the device can read the atmospheric pressure, it makes finding a GPS lock easier. For that reason, barometers are being built into the phones. Maybe someone who knows more can elaborate?

- mdda 13y agoThere's a hardware/robotics company making these (cheap) sophisticated devices available for pressure-sensing applications (like robot fingers) : http://www.takktile.com/tutorial:takkstrip http://www.takktile.com/tutorial:takkstrip . It's another example of mobile phone tech dribbling down to the 'amateur maker' (albeit at an elevated price-point compared to the per-chip cost).
