There's still much innovation left in image signal processing... and fortunately much interest in taking good photos! This reminds me of research into superresolution, an area that's "super interesting" :-) as well. The guys who started Occipital (360 Panorama), I believe, tried to dabble in that with ClearCam many years ago... but I honestly don't know much about it. Anyone from Occipital here on HN?
