I remember reading somewhere that in Columbia a kilogram of cocaine costs a dollar. If you can manage to get that dollar across the U.S border you basically just printed money. Meanwhile if you want to buy that cocaine in the U.S you'll pay a lot of money for it. Moral of the story: Illegalization doesn't make things impossible, it pushes their cost up high enough to make them economically infeasible.
