I disagree somewhat. I see politics as merely trailing behind actual physical surveillance ability. The politics are introduced as post-facto justification to lubricate the process, but aren't needed. We can slow the expanding encroachment by introducing say the Amash bill, but the real solution must come first from defensive technology, secondarily protected by policy.
