Someone stated it below, but "the legal contract [must] allow for the technical solutions". If the government makes security illegal... then what?
As much as we might not want to depend on the government, we're subject to policy.
- ferdo 13y agoWe're only subject to the policies that they can enforce. If a technical solution is found that routes around government's ability to employ surveillance and interference, there's not a lot they can do about it until they catch up. If security is outlawed, only outlaws will be secure.
- nitrogen 13y agoGuns and badges go a long way in enforcing something that is technically "impossible."
- unimpressive 13y agoI remember reading somewhere that in Columbia a kilogram of cocaine costs a dollar. If you can manage to get that dollar across the U.S border you basically just printed money. Meanwhile if you want to buy that cocaine in the U.S you'll pay a lot of money for it. Moral of the story: Illegalization doesn't make things impossible, it pushes their cost up high enough to make them economically infeasible.
