It's weird. You mention that the claim is unfounded, and then you have all this text that follows, but none of it seems related to supporting your point. How is the claim that [X at large is difficult to maintain] unfounded? I happen to agree. I am (was?) a Perl/JavaScript developer. I find both to be sorely lacking at a certain size. And by extension I assume Python and Ruby to be the exact same (under the shared umbrella of lacking static type safety).
