- tome 13y agoReally? You don't think it's possible for a decent people to be ruled by an abhorrent government?
- znowi 13y agoYes, it's possible - the Obama administration :) Shall we declare the US a no fly zone?
- pekk 13y agoNobody has declared Iran a no fly zone. Edit: to clarify, 'no fly zone' has a specific meaning that doesn't apply here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No-fly_zone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No-fly_zone
- r00fus 13y agoNice jab - but this predates Obama - in fact, go all the way back to the Philippine/American War [1] - and I'm sure it goes back even further. That war however, had news media support, yellow journalism at it's finest. - madaxe 13y agoNice, hospitable, open people, good standard of living, great skiing. And a despotic government with no interest in war, just the subjugation of their own - and they'd still be a democratic secular republic if it weren't for the CIA orchestrated coup in '53 that resulted in the 79 coup, overthrowing the shah puppet govt.
- dghughes 13y agoNo interest in war?! The Iranian government funds every nutty group in the region.
- madaxe 13y agoDo they now. Was this bought to you by Fox News? Iran fund the reprehensible republican guard, and have horrors like Ashraf on their hands, but Iran stick to Iran.
- rm999 13y agoYes, they do. Iran has a huge influence outside their borders. Iran has been funding and aiding al-Assad in the Syrian civil war. Hamas was, for awhile, funded almost entirely by Iran. Hezbollah has also largely been funded and supported by Iran. There is evidence that Iran provided weapons to the Iraqi insurgency during the Iraq War. Here's a whole wikipedia article on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_and_state_terrorism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_and_state_terrorism
- mpyne 13y agoAnd Hezbollah, and Syria. Possibly Iraq as well, but I'll admit that's only rumors I've heard.
- tome 13y agoAnd Burgas and AIMA and etc, etc.... Just because Iran do it through proxies doesn't mean it's not Iran.
- VBprogrammer 13y agoIran has not been an aggressor in a war in the last 150 years. How does that compare to your own country? I know it puts mine to shame.
- GabrielF00 13y agoHas your own government called for an author to be murdered as a sacred religious duty because he wrote a literary novel that they didn't like?
