A lot of fans know what kind of womanizer he was, I mean the guy had like 3-4 mistresses at a time. The vast majority of sexism in TOS was actually due to network execs who couldn't (wouldn't?) let certain things fly. This was also a time where a female lead was nearly unheard of and a black one more so. This was a man ahead of his time, whatever his faults.
