I think saying that he broke the Top 25 list is a bit misleading. Here's what actually happened:
"I ended the first day at no. 27 in the UK charts, no. 21 in Australia and no. 20 in Latvia (the winners of the Olympic BMX racing)."
That's still quite an accomplishment, but not quite the same thing.
- trentmb 13y agoMean ranking of ~22.6, I think I'll allow it.
- chj 13y agoGreat job nonetheless, but still, when you talk about top 25, everybody assumes you're referring to US top chart. Very different thing.
- adamthats 13y agoI kind of agree with you, but being a UK citizen I was watching the UK app store by default. Bearing in mind that I was hoping to make a few hundred quid / dollars being in the top 100 in any chart was a result! :)

To reach #25 in the U.K. AppStore, it takes only 21% of the of downloads that it takes to hit #25 in the U.S. AppStore. Still, very impressive for an amateur developer in such an overcrowded channel.
- beagle3 13y agoWell, the UK has about 20% of the population of the US, so it is proportional
- gdeglin 13y agoAgreed. The headline is misleading. The game only briefly broke the top 100 in 8 countries (out of 138), and the highest paid app rank it ever reached in the US was 216. Source: appannie.com
- tomwilson 13y agoI do agency work in Australia and pretty much every app I've ever made cracks a top 10 list in Australia briefly. It's really not that many downloads to get there. Getting any traction in the US though seems to be much more difficult (and the scale difference is enormous).
