I remember discussing with Microsoft employees 5 years ago and their hubris was clear. They thought they still owned all things software. I asked them if they thought that they should update Internet Explorer and do a bit more effort to innovate. Their answer was "We're more concerned with bringing innovations to billions of people than we are with creating new things". Perhaps this failure will result in Ballmer "stepping down".
