"Ten years ago Microsoft was just getting into the video game business, now they essentially own it"
The facts say otherwise:

- asterix9 13y agoThe so called facts don't tell the full story. Selling more consoles will only make you lose more money unless you can get the players to buy more games. For example, see the gaming revenues till 2011. http://www.gamasutra.com/db_area/images/feature/6545/software-revenue-per-platform-2009-2011-modified.png http://www.gamasutra.com/db_area/images/feature/6545/softwar... That doesn't mean they "own" it, but just the shipped console numbers don't tell the entire story.
- usea 13y agoNot that I disagree with your point, but I think it's worth mentioning that VGCharts is not a very reliable source for sales data. It's essentially made up, using sources such as guessing, and talking to store employees to estimate their sales at that location and massively extrapolating.[1][2] [1] http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2008/06/analysis_what_vgchartz_does_and.php#more http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2008/06/analysis_what_vgchartz_d...
