Could you please elaborate? What is the good reason?

  60 is highly composite (divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6). 12 is a highly composite (divisible by 2, 3, 4, and 6). This is a nice property for a numbers used for unit quantities because a common operation on unit quantities is division by small numbers. So it's actually kind of unfortunate that we don't all have 6-fingered hands.

  When was the last time you tried to split a check evenly between three friends? Because it can feel like it takes a third of an hour to figure it out. :-)
