Ask HN: Short term junior positions?

I am self-taught and have been programming for about two years now. I work primarily in Ruby and Python, and most of my programming at work involves writing small scripts or internal CRUD webapps for business processes. I'm building a site with my friend on nights and weekends (hopefully a Show HN post by September). I recently got accepted into App Academy, and will be attending in October. I am continuing to work on improving my programming skills on my own, however I was wondering if there are categorically (or specifically in DC) any kinds of positions open where a team could use a junior programmer for a couple months. I know there is a spin-up cost associated with onboarding someone and I was wondering if there were any situations where I could be a net win even over that short time periods. Any advice?
