I don't see any mention of IR input. No way it will work as a TV device without remote control support.

    What? Dedicated, tactile buttons to feel around in the dark, vs fidgeting with phone.

      Something adaptive that you'll probably fidget with anyway vs something that is hiding behind a sofa cushion most of the time and needs direct line of sight to work.

  They sell USB IR receivers, they sell USB remote controls, there are smartphone apps for such a thing
