So, now that we now Samsung is somewhat dominant in the Android space we get an explanation that the reason Nokia went with WP was that Samsung would be a dominant player in the Android space. I guess I would have been kinda impressed if they actually gave this as the reason two years ago.

It was quite obvious even a couple of years ago that Samsung will basically dominate Android to the extent that android == Samsung given the market share. The whole open platform is a façade that Google has created.
