- clarky07 13y agogenerally speaking, bail is set based on the persons means and the crime. The amount is supposed to be an amount that will make a person show up for trial, so a wealthy person will get a higher bail than a poor person for the same crime. Also, the worse the crime (and punishment expected) the higher the bail all of that is why this is so absurd. the bail is extraordinarily high for the "crime" and for the person's level of wealth.
