"The way to make the system secure is that we can control the infrastructure." This is an incredibly narrow vision of the future. We need an interoperable network that supports a variety of encryption technologies. Users should be able to select the apps they prefer with the features they need. Locking the social graph into a single service and a single app which like most applications will eventually have vulnerabilities is a tremendous liability.
