Solar powered plane lands at JFK, completing cross-country flight
- ck2 13y ago45mph at 30k feet for hours at a time has to be surreal.
- waster 13y agoPossibly like just hanging in the air; the rate of change would be so gradual. And I imagine it's immensely quiet in the cockpit, too, with just the sound of the wind, if any.
- dmd 13y agoI often fly (in an ultralight) at ~30 mph, and above 2000 feet or so you just feel like you're standing still.
- RockyMcNuts 13y agoprevailing winds probably about that fast, generating most of the groundspeed going east, and it sounds like maybe not even feasible to travel across the country east to west.

- sneak 13y agoFYI the flight was not in one hop, but several flights over several days. This flight in particular was DC->NYC.
