I was in a very, very bad accident at 16. I pulled myself out by the steering wheel (I was in the front passenger seat) and walked over to the other vehicle to ask if everyone was okay, before finding out that I was severely injured myself. The other driver kept telling me I should really sit down, and I couldn't comprehend why he'd be saying that when I felt perfectly fine. The brain is quite incredible at blocking out bad things.
