Drop everything and get this. You need Spin (but probably not any of its sequels).
Can't say I know anything about the other novels, but I'm sure others can chime in.
- johnchristopher 13y agoAlthough Spin stand on its own I think the third installment has merits and give it a broader (albeit similar to Baxter's Manifold triptych) ending. It's almost not necessary to read the second one but it still beats TV.
- colkassad 13y agoBoneshaker is a pretty good steampunk romp. I understand the Vorkosigan Saga is a classic, haven't read it yet though.
- venomsnake 13y agoThere are two really good of the Vorkosigans - Vor's Game and Mirror dance. The rest are so so. Sadly I have most of the books in this bundle - only Boneshaker missing. But i will throw a dollar or two for the idea.
- MartinCron 13y agoAbsolutely. Boneshaker is especially fun if you know the Seattle area at all. Some of the most fun I've had reading in a long time.
- runevault 13y agoWas coming in here to post about Spin as well. I don't like most sci-fi anymore because most of the books i seem to come across don't have enough of the science feel (I grew up on stuff like Asimov) so Spin was a breath of fresh air. At some point I should try the sequels for myself but I've also heard they're... not great. Which makes me sad after how much Spin hit the right buttons for me.
- morsch 13y agoYou should look at the Mars trilogy if you enjoy hard ("sciency") scifi. They were written, well, recently compared to Asimov.
