Alternatively, you could just encrypt the directory that you push to remotely (probably /home/git in this tutorial), which seems like a cleaner solution: https://help.ubuntu.com/13.04/serverguide/ecryptfs.html https://help.ubuntu.com/13.04/serverguide/ecryptfs.html
