I wrote Cognii a couple months ago and got nothing back. No rejection letter. Just silence. My advice: Do. Not. Waste. Time.
(Sorry, but if people don't speak out, then shitty behavior continues.)
- throwaway1979 13y agoI have no idea what Cognii is. Also, I'm usually a fan of your posts. However, not replying to an email or job inquiry is not such a big deal that you would hold it against them or call them out publicly for it.
- michaelochurch 13y agoI generally agree with you, but I think it's bad for the Hacker News community when people don't get thoughtful replies, even when the decision is a "no". It feels the slide away from a small technologist-centric community into the corporate way of doing things is underway. [Edit: to make it clear, the social contract is different on a job board, because it takes no effort to send a resume and they probably get hundreds of unqualified, spamming applicants. I just hope that isn't what Hacker News has become. I could be wrong, though. Maybe each company does get hundreds of crappy resumes.]
- keefe 13y agosome organizations only respond when ready to give an offer out of fear of litigation (IANAL so can't comment on practicality)
