I understand your point re: definitions of sexism, but I think EliRivers gets it right here in regards to performance versus person. And it's different to be on the receiving end when you're the threatened minority. It just is.
- yummyfajitas 13y agoit's different to be on the receiving end when you're the threatened minority. It just is. Only if you choose to make it so. In my last job (not in the US), I was the minority. People made jokes about Americans (e.g. "no American jokes - they sue") along with many other groups. I chose not to make it a big deal (being the oppressed minority is boring to me) so it wasn't.
