California has one of the best beer scenes in the world. There is no kind of beer you can't find locally and lots of novel experimentation with the craft. Don't judge the US on Budweiser alone. Stop by the Stone brewery or Russian River brewery if you want a mind-expanding beer experience. Although I find Europeans don't like as much variety in their beer as Americans.
