The fact that something is a prescription drug only means that there are rules about transferring it between people; it is only loosely related to the nature of the drug itself. The comparison between heroin users and prescription opiate users is also bad. If anything, we should want people to use prescription opiates instead of heroin. At least prescription opiates have regulated quality and will actually contain the drug they are supposed to contain (and you can pursue legal remedies if they do not). The fact that 70% of Americans are on prescription drugs is meaningless. A much large number uses non-prescription drugs: alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, allergy pills, cough syrup, etc. The entire world must be filled with zombies, since drug use is common across national and cultural boundaries.
