- skeletonjelly 13y agoYou could say the same thing about having your entire music library at your fingertips digitally and having to get up to swap a CD.
- nhebb 13y agoYou can play music while doing other things. With video games, it is the thing that you are doing. If getting out of a chair to swap a disc is a big issue for someone, that's really not a healthy sign.
- skeletonjelly 13y agoGood point. Still, it's (and I loath to use this phrase) the future. Movies then. Makes more sense on a HTPC than having to swap out discs.
- marshray 13y agoIf you have small kids in the house, it also saves you from the inevitability of these expensive discs getting scratched.
- nhebb 13y agoThat actually is a great reason for going all digital. The other reason (I don't think it was mentioned in the article) is that over the years (PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360) disc drive failures have been one of the biggest hardware problems I've faced with consoles.
- cheald 13y agoI actually rip digital copies of my kids' DVDs, then stream them to the TV over my network for precisely this reason. Left to their own devices, they will trash any given DVD in under a week.
- lotso 13y ago>Holy crap, that's lazy. Isn't a lot of the benefits of technology about making things easier to do?
- rustydoorknobs 13y agoExactly! That's why I never use remote controls for any television in my house. I want to live an active lifestyle
