Lists are pointless, all we need is good search.
That's why the Web works - search is a solved problem.
Search on app stores is archaic and abysmal -- you'd think Google could solve this kind of problem.
- bodegajed 13y agoYeah having almost 700,000 apps in the app store. A search engine would definitely help. How about spiders for apps. I mean they can look for high page rank sites that links to an app for example. they can then score these based from the inbound links.
- inthewoods 13y ago^^^^ This. Apps are a great user experience but App stores really suck for discovery. And given that Google previously worked at solving this problem, you'd think they'd be all over it.
- smackfu 13y agoSearch isn't a solution for discoverability though. A lot of people use those top lists to see "what are the new games that are out?"
- hayksaakian 13y agoHow does it work on the web? You search for sites known to promote games (let's say IGN) and they link you to games. Why does Google/Apple need to curate everything?
