I think you'll find a lot of folks that will think that, while what you say may be true, this is not a good trade. I'd rather somebody be a d-bag and still have their dad than treat me well and not have their dad any more. I think there are viable alternatives to learning more about your humanity than losing a loved one. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying I don't think it's worth losing somebody you love dearly. To each his own, I guess.
