Good post. But it misses (or more precisely underemphasizes) an even greater point, I believe -- the chilling effect of surveillance. There are things you don't do because they MIGHT be used against you. Worrying about that -- even stopping to makethat calculation -- is a tragic reduction of liberty and happiness.
