Ubuntu would fix that? I doubt it. Ubuntu has not even fixed its desktop fully yet. It's breaking, and breaking even more with every new release. In 12.10, I can't safely write to my NTFS partitions, can't say if my Desktop Manager won't crash, can't say if the startup screen (plymouth) won't freeze.... Ubuntu is not going to fix anything anytime soon IMHO.
