If this new Gmail feature doesn't suit you, you can TURN IT OFF.
- Kayaki 13y agoI just hope they don't retire the "classic" view over time, like they are doing it to the classic compose interface.
- fennecfoxen 13y agoTo be fair, that would be an advantage this feature has over ALL THE OTHER OBNOXIOUS FEATURES they've done to mangle the layout over the past N years - features that you could postpone but not avoid. cough New Compose coughcough
- Karunamon 13y agoProblem is, if it's anything like usual Google features, it follows a common path: New feature announced --> Deployed to @gmail users -- Deployed to Apps users --> Old feature deprecated --> old feature removed Google has a feature of eventually forcing people onto bad UI layouts.. for example Youtube.
- piyush_soni 13y agoBut you still stick to it, so it doesn't show up in numbers to them - otherwise they'll change it back to what more people liked - or may be it already is that way?
- Karunamon 13y agoMost of my (and I imagine a good chunk of this site's readership) access to GMail is handled through IMAP, for one. For two, I struggle to think of a UI cockup of an email app on the level required to drive people to switch ecosystems.
