You really need to get a lot of sick days and then management needs to keep you out of the office until you are well. That includes stay-in-bed time where you get better instead of attempting to work, plus working from home for a few days. The cost of having an office full of sick people is huge, it's a massive moral and productivity problem, ignoring the health implications. The policy of having combined sick and vacation days as "PTO" is broken.
