It's interesting that his employment offer was a salary plus a $300K bonus over three years, and just a few years later GitHub is valued at around $1B. Not only that, they didn't take any funding in the beginning. (It was bootstrapped completely for many years -- its first ever funding was a $100M round valuing GitHub at $750M.)
