Seriously? Google Reader flaming out does not mean that Google is a terrible steward for big projects, especially "moonshot" projects like this. I would be thrilled if Google shut down web services that could easily be done by other companies/startups in favor of pursuing big, meaningful projects that only they can do, like self-driving cars, Google Fiber, Google Glass, etc.
