The "only the last 200" photos visible "feature" is now gone, as is the 300MB/month limit. Yahoo has decided to pursue the gmail strategy - offer a huge amount of free storage as compared to the competition. The ad-free plan is probably most attractive for professional users (pro photographers, business accounts, etc) as it means no ads for anybody when viewing photos of a paid account. The doublr plan seems pretty clearly targeted at business accounts where $500/year is trivial. It definitely isn't a typo.
