Wordpress.com has 66 million blogs and it's parent company made ~$45m - and I'm guessing a significant chunk of that came from a tiny percentage of power users. Most users just aren't willing to pay for a consumer web product let alone invest, for something like tumblr you'ld be lucky if you could get a tiny fraction of a percent of users to even think about investing.
