Digg Ditches Microsoft To Sell Its Own Ads
- falsestprophet 17y agoIs there an intermediate step between using an ad network and hiring a sales force? Could ad brokerages fill this space?
- Slzr 17y agoI think your best salesman its your own website, a link in your website for ads information its all that it takes, I dont see why you have to pay someone else to do it, unless you are so small then you go with adsense but if your main income its ads you should be in control.
- staunch 17y agoThere are lots of ad sales companies that you can outsource your direct ad sales to. The biggest problem is that they'll take 40-50% typically. If that's hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars it always makes sense to do it yourself.
- Slzr 17y agoWhat? They did not sell its own ads?? Wow, what a sweet deal MSN had.
- ig1 17y agoAbout time, Microsoft did a terrible job monetizing Digg. Digg has about half of it's userbase outside of the US where Microsoft sells almost zero ads.
- lucumo 17y agoMaybe, but the TechCrunch article talks about a "nation-wide sales force"...
