I write all my CSS using BEM (Block-Element-Modifier) now and it's helped quite a bit with making updates (no more specificity wars) and maintaing contextual style rules. I was thrown off at first by the ugly naming convention and "classitis" that the pattern produces, but the gains are worth it.
