i think there has been some confusion in links and titles: btcd is a full-node alternative implementation of the bitcoin protocol. this was not meant to be misleading and you are right to point out that the btcwire package is far from the entire piece of software. in another few weeks all the pieces will be public and it will be closer to a full implementation, per my interpretation of your use of the word full.
