I believe that in some countries, probation is a much more complicated deal. I think it might be the same as an employment, just with an extra section about early termination. In this example, the post is about charging on a freelance-basis for the interview alone, as a clearly-defined piece of work being delivered. The comment above about paying candidates to interview goes along the same lines too. Both should be simpler to set-up and less legally entangling than a probation.
