The infamous 41 shades of blue was under Ms. Mayer's (now of Yahoo) reign[1] and likely would have driven anyone with a shred of art education into the fetal position given the adaptive nature of human vision[2]. It is difficult to deduce if you are suggesting that the status quo remains at Google or if you have been noticing the decisions that are more design focused.
