I think you might have read too much into that; sounds like they were calling the food trucks themselves invading parasites.
- pseut 13y agoFWIW "invading parasites" is a phrase that one should avoid in American English if he or she wants to avoid sounding racist. Many people will read "too much" into it whether intended or not, so it's best to avoid it.
- shiftpgdn 13y agoI think you might be a little too sensitive and in all probability I imagine you get offended by the word "dongles" as well. I would recommend descending from your ivory towers for a dose of the real world every now and then lest you lose touch with things that are actually offensive.
- walshemj 13y agoRealy with food trucks often serving ethnic food and run/staffed by ethnics. Its just like you likened Indian/Chinese restaurants to "parasites invading" Yes the term is racist in this case

- joonix 13y agoUh... no. I have never see this connoted as racist. You don't get to dictate what phrases the public can't use.

- erikpukinskis 13y agoHuh? No one is stopping you from saying whatever you want. OP is just offering information about what might come across as racist.
- epochwolf 13y agoThe only person "reading too much into it" is you.
